Connect with a Connection Key

Step 1: Get a Key

  • You must have a Connection Key to connect to a Stanford Medicine site with Contribute. To request a connection key, use the Contribute request form. You must have a SUNet ID. If you don't have a specific site, you can request access to a private practice site. When you get the email, save the key file to your computer's desktop.
  • Under most scenarios, you will only need to connect with the key once on any given computer. You may need to re-connect with the key when/if you change your SUNet password, so save the key file where you can find it.

Step 2: Launch Contribute, Open Key File

Begin connecting by double-clicking on the key file icon on your computer's desktop. If Contribute is not already open, it will be launched from your desktop. If you already have Contribute running, double-clicking the key file will initiate the connection process. If you are in Contribute and click "Create a Connection" you will be prompted to double-click the key file.

Step 3: Import Connection Key

Enter your name, your email address and the connect key password provided by Web Help. NOTE: The connect key password is not a true login password. It only controls use of the key. If you have the correct password, you will be connected to the site.

Step 4: WebDAV Username and Password

Use your SUNet login and password. Don't select "Remember password."

Connected

Now that the connection is established, the home page is displayed inside the Contribute browser, with the "Edit Page" button displayed. If the site URL is for an open directory, with no "index.html" file, you will be warned that there is no page to edit. In either case, you can browse to the page you want to edit.
