Site Contact Email Addresses

Stanford Medicine site owners often wish to create a channel for communications about thier group or site without publishing their personal email addresses.

Current Options for New Addresses

  1. Request a Stanford Mailman email list - Lists are easy to maintain directly; you control who can and can't "subscribe" and who can or can't send email to the address; lists are supported by Stanford IT Services. Learn More »
  2. Request a group IMAP account - Stanford IT Services provides a group email box service for a fee. Learn More »
  3. Create a personal alias - Log in to Stanford. You, click the link 'Change settings for account "[yoursunetid]"' then the "change..." link next to "Forward email to another address"

Changes to @med.stanford.edu email services

IRT is no longer issuing new @med.stanford.edu email ailases under most circumstances. If you feel that only an @med.stanford.edu alias will be appropriate for your need, explain why in a Web Help request.

Owners of @med.stanford.edu aliases that remain in service are encouraged to set up a companion @lists.stanford.edu list to manage users in and out as recipients. Let us know if you are switching to just using the @lists alias, so we can retire the @med alias.

Requesting updates to existing @med.stanford.edu aliases

  1. Before contacting IRT to request an update to an existing @med.stanfore.edu alias, please first request a Stanford Mailman email list to manage the members of the alias
  2. Use the Web Help form to request an update
    • Provide the URL of your site
    • Provide your @lists.stanford.edu address to be used as the target of the alias.
    • Provide the @med.stanford.edu email alias you want to modify
  3. Thereafter, you will manage the members of the alias through Stanford Mailman.

Note: If you will be using the alias in an Email Form, let us know so we can enable it for that use.
