E-mail Aliases

Owners of School of Medicine sites are encouraged to set up custom e-mail forwarding aliases. Our custom email addresses take the form "abcxyz@med.stanford.edu" only. Mail sent to these addresses are forwarded to one or several users responsible for answering site specific inquiries and suggestions.

For example, the users gerhard@leland.stanford.edu and gates@microsoft.com might receive mail for http://med.stanford.edu/world-domination/ at the forwarding address world-domination@med.stanford.edu.

This way, users write to a single address, even after a transfer of site ownership (or shift in the world political climate).

Complete our Web Help form to request an e-mail alias. Tell us:

  • The URL of your site

  • The email alias you want, i.e. youralias@med.stanford.edu; you might want to think of a couple of options, in case the one you want is already taken.

  • The email addresses of everyone (even if it's just you) you want to receive the email.

  • If you do not have a SUNet ID please provide the SUNet ID and contact information for your Stanford supervisor or sponsor.

Note: If you will be using the alias in an Email Form, you will need to let us know so we can include it in FormMail
