Community Academic Profiles (CAP)
QUICK HELP
This Web-based profile system currently includes over 2500 faculty, physicians, postdocs, and researchers with PI waivers. With CAP, researchers can easily maintain and publish information about their academic activities, including research interests, publications, photos, and a number of additional important categories of information.
The system downloads current faculty rosters from PeopleSoft and includes basic information about primary appointments, basic research interests. CAP also 'talks' to Hospital systems and integrates data for physicians' clinical information, such as specialties, education, and address(es). The system also automatically retrieves recent publications from PubMed.
Integrating CAP into a Stanford Medicine Website
CAP profile lists and individual profiles can be integrated into the public web site so that the profiles of individual faculty members can be displayed on the web site of any department, institute or program.
With a simple twist of the URL, Web Authors can make profiles and faculty lists appear to be continuous with the static site. For example, note how Dean Pizzo's Profile is integrated within the Beckman Center site:
- Integrated: http://med.stanford.edu/profiles/beckman/faculty/philip_pizzo/
- Not integrated: http://med.stanford.edu/profiles/philip_pizzo/
Note also, how the Biochemistry Department can list their faculty within the context of their own site:
- Integrated: http://med.stanford.edu/profiles/biochemistry/frdActionServlet?choiceId=showFacByDept&dept=Biochemistry
- Not integrated: http://med.stanford.edu/profiles/
frdActionServlet?choiceId=showFacByDept&dept=Biochemistry
