Launching Your Site

Once we move your site from the protomed directory - our private zone in cyberspace - to its final location on IRT’s servers, your site will be available 24/7 and supported by nightly backup and security monitoring. At this time, we will follow up on a number of issues:

  • If your department has requested a custom URL, it will be activated.
  • If you had a previous site, we will set up a redirect for visitors attempting to reach you through your old URL.
  • To ensure people can locate your site from numerous vantage points, we will link it to the Site Listings page and any other relevant pages within the main SoM site. We will also flag your site to be captured in the next updates for the A-Z and Stanford-Google Indices.
  • You site will be formatted for tracking in Webtrends, a powerful tool for analyzing the traffic to and within your site
  • Your designated site maintainer(s) will be given a secure server account and appropriate file permissions on the SoM server to access and edit your Web pages.
