Developing your site

All site development takes place in a non-public space in the SoM Web environment called protomed. Working in protomed allows you to review and share your site-in-progress with your group members while keeping it hidden from public view.

IRT-developed sites

For some sites -- particularly those representing large departments and centers -- all development is usually handled by a developer from IRT's Web & New Media Services group. In this case, you are only responsible for providing your site's content, which includes both text and images.

Self-developed sites

In some instances, developing the site yourself will be the best approach. If your group does not have the available personnel, we can connect you with a reputable contractor. We will provide your developer with templates for working within the SoM Web environment, as well as any needed technical support. Your completed site must be approved by the Web & New Media Services group before publication. You can learn more by reading Developing Your Site in IRT's Prototyping Area.
