Client-developed applications

Groups that wish to independently develop dynamic Web content in the form of Web applications, CGI, PERL, Java, or any other server-driven process are asked to discuss their project with the IRT programming staff before beginning development. More

The IRT data center provides a high-availability and managed hosting environment for School of Medicine web sites. Hosting is free for static content, wikis and blogs. You will receive an account on the web servers and full access to change your content at any time. IRT can host sites with dynamic content for a monthly fee that varies by project depending on the infrastructure needs and specific requirements. Our standard environment for web applications is J2EE with Oracle 10g as a database, though we can also host several other technology platforms including .net, perl, php, and mySQL.

Housing your site in the School's central production web environment will provide you with a number of benefits, including:

backup and recovery
server maintenance and upgrades
security monitoring
system administration and configuration
load balanced and fault tolerant architecture
web traffic statistics via our Webtrends installation

Anyone looking to use our hosting services must be familiar with our hosting requirements and user account policies. An account on the server allows each authorized user to control and make updates to his or her web site.
