Customizing the School of Medicine templates

Our goal is to create a cohesive online experience across all School of Medicine websites and to have a strong brand identity for the enterprise. To achieve this a standard template for SOM web pages has been created. This template is free for use by any entity in the School and is fully supported by IRT. Its use is required by all departments, divisions, centers and institutes. Sites for individual faculty and labs are exempt and are free to develop sites on their own, and still eligible for free hosting in IRT's data center.

If your unit would like to create a customized design we are happy to partner with an outside design agency to work on a unique look and feel. It is imperative that IRT be involved in the design process early to insure the new design fits in with the overall SOM web environment and can be supported for the long-term. Some key elements of the standard templates will need to be retained and the overall page structure and size will be critical so your site can be integrated with our various web applications (CAP, clinical trials directory, events calendar, etc), but a wide degree of flexibility in design is possible.
