Accessing the SoM Web Environment/IRT server

IRT provides access on our primary web server to clients and content partners, for the purpose of maintaining their School of Medicine-related web pages. Authorized access to the server allows users to make routine updates and add materials themselves, and be in control of their web sites. All users with authorized access are required to read, agree to and abide by our User Policies provided below.

User Agreement

You acknowledge that you have read and understand the following terms and conditions, which apply to all users of the School of Medicine server managed by IRT. If you have any questions about a particular site, or the use of the request form, please contact Web Help before submitting the form.

  1. Authority to take control of a School of Medicine site resides with the leadership of the department, division or group represented by the site, not with IRT. If seeking permission, check with the chief, department or division head, or group leader. If you're having trouble determining whom to ask, use the Web Help form to request information before proceeding.

  2. You, the submitter of the request form, assert that you have the authority to modify the content of the indicated site and will be responsible for observing these policies. You must have a SUNet ID to access the site. A sponsored ID is acceptable.

  3. You acknowledge that you have read IRT's Hosting Requirements as well as the policies in this User Agreement, and agree to them.

  4. Each person accessing the server must use their own password. You agree not to share your password with anyone, inside your department or out. You will be responsible for anything done with your login. Always remember to log out whenever you leave your station for any length of time. Do not use any "save password" feature on an unsecured computer.

  5. Your account will be used in maintaining your group's Web site only. You will only view files in the directory designated for your group's Web site, or in your home directory. You will not attempt to read, write, or execute files owned by other users, except through an HTML Web browser (i.e. Explorer, Netscape, Safari, Mozilla, Mosaic, etc).

  6. When your association with the indicated group ends you will notify IRT in a timely fashion so that the account can be retired.

  7. You will be subscribed to the Web-Authors email list, used to provide important and useful information to the Web Author Community. Please do not unsubscribe unless you no longer are associated with the site. Inform Web Help if your email address changes.
