SHC/SOM Integration 2008
After an in-depth planning process, Martha Marsh, CEO of Stanford Hospital & Clinics, and Dean Philip Pizzo have approved a substantial shift in the overall web strategies for the School of Medicine and Stanford Hospital and Clinics.
The SHC and SoM Web Integration Project will integrate the public websites for the hospital and school and will merge the support and operation of the sites going forward. The hospital’s intranet and the EPIC system will remain outside the scope of this work. IRT's Web & New Media Services group will support the integrated sites and will continue to provide the same training and services that we have in the past.
As an extension of the school's 2.0 web format, the new integrated design will represent an incremental change for most school sites. It does, however, offer many exciting, new features including:
- Branding alignment with SHC that leverages our strength as an academic medical center
- Seamless navigation across hospital and school sites
- Enhanced faculty profiles offering comprehensive research and clinical information
- Ability to simultaneously publish news, seminars and clinical trials listings on both hospital and school sites as appropriate
Phase I – Design Implementation
Summer 2008
We will begin implementing the new integrated design on Monday, June, 16. Individual school sites will be frozen for one week, on a rolling fashion, throughout the summer. Site owners will be contacted in advance with the conversion schedule. Top-level school sites, along with the entire hospital site, will be launched simultaneously at the end of August.
Phase II – Content Strategy and Integration - a multi-year project
Following this summer's initial design integration, communications leadership from both the hospital and school will begin discussions on how best to integrate and organize the far-ranging patient care and clinical research content that currently exists across the school's clinical department sites and the hospital's site.
