Web Help services are reduced until August 31st. I hope you have already heard the details about the SHC and SoM Web integration project: SHC/SOM Integration. During this project period our web help services are limited to helping with problems or questions with current websites (there is a temporary freeze on new sites and new site features). IRT can quickly generate a custom online survey based on your list of questions. The online survey creation tool supports both public, non-secured anonymous surveys and Stanford-only secure surveys. It offers complete data tabulation and summary reports through a secure administrative URL and it can hide user ids for HIPAA-compliant reporting. More »

IRT offers resources and documentation to enable Web Authors to develop and maintain attractive Web sites. Individuals in charge of maintaining their group's site are recommended to take advantage of training resources such as instructive online training videos. More »

Web Authors can restrict access to certain Web pages or documents on their site. WebAuth is just one way of password-protecting Web content. With WebAuth in place visitors would need to provide a valid SUNet ID and password. Authentication can also be applied through an assigned username and password. More »

WebTrends is a software tool that allows you to analyze the traffic on your site. You can see how many visitors a page has, what pages have the most traffic and more. To set up a profile for your site, fill out the request form. When your profile has been set up, we will contact you with instructions on how to access it. More »

Simply launching a Web site does not necessarily mean that it will be seen. No matter how great your site is, it won't see much traffic unless you make it easy to access and people know that it exists. Multimedia is a great way to communicate with your site's users. And multimedia tools have never been more accessible. IRT now supports Flash Video as the format of choice for video. More »

Community Academic Profiles (CAP) is an online resource that describes the primary appointments, research activities and publications of school faculty and researchers. Profiles can be linked from any site, and can be integrated with sites that use the SoM Web format. More »

Contribute is a simplified Web editing tool that makes it very easy to take care of an existing site. It is ideal for light maintenance by non-technical people including occasional changes to existing pages and new pages duplicated from them. It allows for routing of changes for approval before publishing and rollback to earlier versions. Easy to learn and use, Contribute is an excellent tool for groups who wish to minimize training in web development. IRT has a limited number of free site licenses available to SOM departments. Dreamweaver is a power tool for site development and publishing and now an industry standard. If you need to do extensive development work on a site's structure, such as new topics and sub-sites, Dreamweaver is the way to go. With Dreamweaver, you can edit pages easily and visually, or hack the code. More »

FormMail is an IRT-supported email server script that allows visitors to send you email from your web page. Any site hosted on the IRT server can make use of FormMail.Because of security issues, use of FormMail is restricted. Any site hosted on IRT's server (med.stanford.edu) can make use of FormMail, once key information has been added to an approved list. More »

Owners of School of Medicine sites are encouraged to set up custom e-mail forwarding aliases. Our custom email addresses take the form "abcxyz@med.stanford.edu" only. Mail sent to these addresses are forwarded to one or several users responsible for answering site specific inquiries and suggestions. More »

IRT can set up a Weblog, or "blog," using Movable Type. The classic blog is site where sequential "postings" are displayed in reverse chronological order. Blogs can also be adapted for use as forums, guestbooks, or secured document repositories. To request a blog, select " would like to request a service, site feature or new site development" under 1., above, then select "Blog."

Web Authors control everything in their site using Dreamweaver or Contribute except tab menus. Tab menus are controlled centrally by IRT. To request a change to your site's menus, select "I just need help" above, provide your site's home URL and the details of your menu change, including which tab, where in the menu (before or after what?), link label text and link URL, for each item.

Reggie allows faculty and staff to create online registration forms for any School of Medicine event. Provide online registration for events, meetings, seminars, conferences, non-curriculum courses, or any other gatherings of any size that require registration. All setup can be done online, for just about any kind of event or series of events. More »

The Biomedical Seminars Calendar offers a dynamic compendium of seminars and other events at the Medical Center. If you would like an event added or changed, please contact the appropriate maintainer from the online calendar contact list. It is remarkably easy to link to listings of seminars and other events for your group, and to details of events listed in the calendar. View Calendar »

You can have your site reviewed at any time by IRT. Your site will be checked for issues such as link integrity, search functionality, and overall appearance of pages. Just select "new site feature or service" on this form, then "Review of My Web site".
