Community Academic ProfilesThe new Web-based profile system for faculty and researchers with PI waivers is called "Community Academic Profiles," or CAP. With CAP researchers can easily maintain and publish information about their academic activities, including research interests, publications, photos, and a number of additional important categories of information. The School's new CAP system is a replacement for the old Faculty Research Directory and has been a collaborative project between the offices of the Sr. Associate Deans for Research and Information Resources and Technology (IRT). Technical development was done in-house by IRT's Systems Engineering & Architecture team. CAP will be integrated with the new public web site so that the profiles of individual faculty members can be displayed automatically on the web site of any department, institute or program. The system downloads current faculty rosters from PeopleSoft and a default profile is automatically created for all active faculty and researchers with PI waivers. The basic profile will include information about primary appointments, basic research interests, and automatically retrieves recent publications from PubMed. Faculty can then login and edit these profiles whenever they choose and add additional information. |
