Awards go to medical school Web site, writers
The School of Medicine's 2007/08 redesigned Web site has won top honors in a competition sponsored by the Association of American Medical Colleges.
"I have seen the future and it is the redesigned Stanford School of Medicine Web site," remarked one judge. Another added, "Any of our colleagues who want to see how the Web can be used to its best advantage should visit med.stanford.edu."
IRT develops and supports enterprise-wide technologies that facilitate biomedical research, education, information retrieval, collaboration and other mission-critical business functions across the School of Medicine and Sanford Hospital and Clinics.
Working in concert with the Medical School community, IRT builds web and desktop applications which support biomedical research, education, information retrieval, collaboration, and other mission critical business functions.
Some of the Web Services provided include:
- Web Site Development. IRT oversees the development, maintenance and governance of the public online presence for the School of Medicine.
- Software Development. IRT operates a java/oracle development environment and builds enterprise scale dynamic web applications both for the public website and for internally focused projects. Several of our public dynamic web applications' content can be seamlessly integrated with any static site in the standard School of Medicine format.
- Site Hosting. The School of Medicine’s Web presence contains more than 300 individual sites totaling more than 200,000 pages. IRT provides Site Hosting services.
- Web Site Enhancement Tools. There are a number of features available for use on your website. Examples include departmental faculty listings, surveys, images, and blogs.
- Web-Author Training. IRT provides training in two Web Authoring programs: Dreamweaver and Contribute.
