MAC OSX In the Domain

We are only allowing OSX 10.3 or higher to connect to the domain.

Here is how you connect:

Using Kerberos and SMB:

You connect to windows servers using SMB.  If you have 10.3 or highter of the MacOS it will have Samba v3 which supports NTMLv2.  As we have a trust between the MIT K5 Realm and AD you can use MacLeland to get a ticket and then access any windows share an any windows 2000 and newer server.

  1. Enter SUNETID and Password into MacLeland, the Realm will need to be “Stanford.edu”
  2. Select menu GO and select Connect To Server
  3. type “smb://ComputerName/sharename (If it is a hidden share enter the $ at the end of the sharename)
  4. Click connect
  5. You will then see a drive on the desktop and the window will open up to that share point.

Upgrade to OSX 10.3 is free. Purchasing needs an account number, not to charge the account, but to keep track of licenses.
