Macintosh - Information for faculty, staff, and students in the School of Medicine

We support Mac OS 10.3 and above. If your computer is not at this level, call 5-8000 and we can assist you in understanding any limitations and then upgrading.

If you want to get ready, follow these steps:

  1. Insure Anti-Virus software is up to date
    1. Live Update (Configure your software for regular updates)
    2. Daily Virus Scan (Configure your software for daily scans)
  2. Insure that software updates are automatic
    1. Software Update
  3. Configure your machine for remote desktop support
    1. Access to your machine is still controlled entirely by you
    2. Why should I do this? How about security? How does this work?
  4. Applications and Data loaded in standard locations
    1. Exceptions to locations of applications or data should be recorded in a text file on the desktop ("IRT exceptions.txt")
