Configure your Machine for Remote Assistance

Why should I do this?

After you have set up your machine for remote desktop support and then when you call the IRT Help Desk, we will be able to fix most problems while you are on the phone.

How about the security of my machine?

Access to your machine is still controlled entirely by you. You will be able to ask for assistance while you are on the phone and then we will be able to access your machine. Once that session is over, we no longer have any access to your machine. You will also be able to see everything that we do while we are accessing your machine.

How does this work?

The actual procedure depends on whether you are on a PC or Mac. However, in general you ask for assistance from the desktop support people.

Once the session is over, and proper procedures have been followed, we no longer have access to your machine.

How do I set this up on my machine?

PCs (Installing/enabling/configuring remote assistance software: PCs)

Macs (Installing/enabling/configuring remote desktop software: Macs)
