Who do I call if I need technical support in a classroom?

For immediate technical support, call 650-353-6312. For assistance with becoming familiar with classroom equipment before your event, contact the resources coordinator at medscheduler@lists.stanford.edu or 650-723-6952.

What are safety and Emergency Procedures at Computer Lab?

Bomb Threat 286, code 10
Call Emergency
Evacuate area

Earthquake
Take immediate cover under desk, table or doorway until shaking stops (watch your fingers in door hinges and stay away from swinging doors)
Evacuate area after shaking stops
Stay away from broken windows, electrical equipment, overturned furniture, etc.
Staff members should go to Emergency Assembly Point (Dean's Lawn)
Do not re-enter building until cleared by Safety Teams or Security

Fire 286
Pull nearest alarm handle (located next to our stairwell towards Fairchild building.)
Call 286 to report the fire to the hospital operator, giving your full name and location of the fire
Without endangering yourself or others, attempt to put out the fire using the extinguisher, located in the hall across the M222.
Evacuate everyone from the Computer Labs. Guide everyone to the nearest exit. You may reenter if and when advised to do so by the Fire Dept. or Security.
Staff members should go to Emergency Assembly Point (Dean's Lawn).

Flood, Water Leakage 3-5555
Place wastebaskets under leak, power down (Shutdown) and remove equipment from area (get other students to help you)
Call Med Center Facilities immediately

Medical Emergency 9-911

Call Emergency
Provide first aid measures if you are able (i.e. stop bleeding with pressure, administer CPT)
If student: if MINOR then person should be taken to Cowell. If MAJOR injury he/she should use Stanford ER, but Cowell should be notified at once
If staff: if MINOR take to Stanford Medical Group (A381) at Stanford or Urgent Care Center at Palo Alto Medical Clinic. If MAJOR use Stanford ER.

Computer Labs Equipment?

The Computer Labs, located in the Alway building (M202, M230), comprise an independent computerized study center which supports the teaching programs at the Stanford University School of Medicine. To serve medical student primarily, the labs also provide consulting and instruction in media and computing technologies, curriculum web portal and their thoughtful uses in higher education.

Computer Resources and Equipment:
-A PC teaching lab with 25 networked Windows XP workstations, CD/DVD Read drives (CD-RW/DVD-R), a whiteboard, an overhead projector and a LCD projector.
-A lounge with 10 networked windows XP workstations with CD drives, 3 iMac workstations with CD/DVD drives (CD/DVD-RW).
-A Mac teaching lab with 6 networked iMac workstations with CD/DVD drives (CD/DVD-RW), an LCD projector, and a whiteboard.
-Multimedia iMac workstation with a flatbed reflexive/slide scanner, 22" flat panel extended display, an external CD/DVD drive (CD/DVD-RW), and graphic software
-Multimedia iMac workstation with video editing software -Multimedia Windows XP workstation with a flatbed scanner
-Two HP LaserJet Black and White printers and one HP Color LaserJet printer
-Headphones for user while in lab

Computer Lab Telephone System

There are two telephones available for users at the computer labs:

Teacher station area of M202 main lab.
Phone number is: 723-2289

M202 main room next to couches.
Phone number is: 724-6339

To dial out:
-Dial five-digit number directly if you need to call someone on campus.
-Dial 9. Then dial seven-digit number if you need to call someone in 650 area.
-Dial 9. Then dial area code + seven-digit number if you need to dial local long distance such as 408, 510, or 415 area.
