Off-label use for for medications under scrutiny
Stanford researchers have developed a list of 14 widely prescribed medications most urgently in need of additional study to determine how effective and safe they are for their off-label uses. Randall Stafford, associate professor of medicine at the Stanford Prevention Research Center and senior author of the study, is quoted in this article. PV scientist wins Lasker award
Stanley Falkow, the Robert W. and Vivian K. Cahill Professor in Cancer Research, received the 2008 Lasker-Koshland Award for Special Achievement in Medical Science. Sometimes referred to as "America's Nobels," the Lasker Awards are this country's most distinguished honor for researchers in basic and clinical medical sciences.
