At hearing, experts disagree on need for new abortion clinic rules in Missouri
A federal judge heard testimony yesterday in a lawsuit filed by Planned Parenthood and a doctor from the St. Louis area. The law challenged by the suit would require abortion clinics to meet state building, staffing, and health standards. Paul Blumenthal, professor of obstetrics and gynecology, was among the experts who testified and is quoted in this article.

Women with breast cancer connect
The Northern Sierra Rural Health Network, which works to improve the quality of women with breast cancer, is collaborating with the School of Medicine to research the benefits of support groups for breast cancer patients in rural communities. Cheryl Koopman, associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, is helping lead the effort.

Stanford researchers have developed a molecular probe that sets aglow tumor cells within living animals. Their goal is to use the probe to improve the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and other diseases.
