Medtronic Inc. announced they would stop selling their defibrillator leads because of a risk of fractures that could erroneously dispatch jolts of electricity. The leads may pose a higher risk of fracture in younger adults and children. George Van Hare, professor of pediatrics, is quoted in this article.

Dog DNA study reveals new role for protein
Stanford researches, led by Gregory Barsh, professor of genetics and of pediatrics, studied the DNA of hundreds of dogs, looking for a gene mutation that controls coat color. Their findings may also help explain why people come in different colors and weights. Barsh provides comment here.
