Research sheds light on diabetes
Stanford researchers have found that a protein in the pancreas of mice may offer insight into the mechanism behind gestational diabetes, a condition that affects about 4 percent of all pregnant women. Lucile Packard gives $2.65 million for San Jose school nurses
Lucile Packard Children's Hospital and the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health are funding a $2.65 million "demonstration project" to restore full-time school nurses to four San Jose schools. The article, which also appears in the San Jose/Silicon Valley Business Journal, mentions that researchers from the School of Medicine will evaluate the project, analyzing measures such as access to ongoing health services, management of chronic problems and school attendance.
