McBribe? Ronald McDonald visits library bearing coupons, controversy follows
Ronald McDonald paid a visit to a New York library and handed out free Happy Meal coupons to children who read books as part of the library's summer reading club. The article references a Stanford/Packard study in which children were asked to sample two identical foods from McDonald's - they preferred the taste of the version branded with the restaurant's familiar "Golden Arches" to one extracted from unmarked paper packaging. The study was led by Thomas Robinson, associate professor of pediatrics and of medicine and director of the Center for Healthy Weight at Packard Children's, who is quoted here.

Packard Hospital aids clinic amid budget crisis
Lucile Packard Children's Hospital has loaned the Ravenswood Family Health Center in East Palo Alto $175,000 to allow the clinic to keep paying its staff during the continuing state budget crisis in Sacramento. Chris Dawes, president and CEO of Packard Children's, is quoted in this article.
