Human Embryonic Stem Cell Derivation Training

One of the foundations of stem cell technology is the ability to derive stem cell lines from either adult tissues or from the inner cell mass (ICM) of the blastocysts. The staff and scientists at the Center are deriving new stem cell lines, including disease-specific cell lines that can be used as a model for studying inherited human diseases.

As a part of the teaching curriculum at the Center, we can provide training to individuals interested in deriving new human embryonic stem cell lines. Since deriving new stem cell lines uses donated tissues, trainees will learn how to efficiently use the limited resources. This course, offered via special request, is taught by scientists who have successfully derived human embryonic stem cell lines at Stanford and UCSF.
