Stanford E-mail Account
The Department of Graduate Medical Education requests that you obtain a Stanford SUNet ID and e-mail account. A SUNet ID is required to access many of the online resources available to you at Stanford (e.g. Lane Library).
If you have an e-mail address that is in the form of your_SUNet_ID@stanford.edu, then you already have a Stanford SUNet ID and e-mail account.
If you do not have a Stanford SUNet ID and e-mail account, please do the following:
- Go to http://sunetid.stanford.edu.
- Click Request my own SUNet ID.
- Click provide other indentification (you do not have a "University ID#").
- Complete all fields on the next page, then click Continue.
- On the next page, enter your choice for a SUNet ID. The SUNet ID you choose will be your permanent, visible identifier at Stanford that cannot be changed.
- Click the boxes to indicate your agreement to the policies, then click Continue.
- Select password and enter a personal fact on the next page, then click Continue.
NOTE: DO NOT do this before JUNE 1. If you request a SUNet ID before June 1, your request will be discarded and you will have to reapply.
Once you have created your SUNet ID, please send an e-mail to in the Department of Graduate Medical Education. To sponsor your account, she will need:
- Your full name
- Your SUNet ID
Account sponsorship will take a couple of days. You can check the status of your e-mail account at http://sunetid.stanford.edu.
For instructions on how to access your e-mail once your account has been sponsored, click here.
