Resources for Applicants Who Are Interviewing
2009-2010 General Surgery Interview Dates:
- Tuesday, December 1-Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009
- Monday, December 7th-Tuesday, December 8th, 2009
- Wednesday, January 13-Thursday, January 14th, 2010
Interview Schedule:
Dr. Krummel, our Program Director and Chairman would like to interview all applicants. In order to achieve this, we need to schedule half of our applicants the afternoon before the cocktail reception and the other half the next morning. You will receive an itinerary the week before your interview by email and your interview day schedule the day before interviews.
- On Day 1, HALF of the applicants will be scheduled for a 20 minute interview with Dr. Krummel, our Program Director and Chairman. Interviews will start at 11:30a-5:00p, location to be announced. The other half will be scheduled on Day 2.
- Coctail reception is scheduled the evening of Day 1 from 5:30-7:00p.
- On Day 2, ALL are expected to arrive at 6:50a and meet at the hospital main entrance lobby area (300 Pasteur Drive)
- On Day 2, all applicants will interview with 4 faculty members (2 in each room), have lunch with residents and faculty, and go on a tour. The interview day should end no later than 3p.

- The cocktail reception is held at the Bing Dining Room located on the third floor of SUMC. From the main entrance, make a left down the main corridor, make a right down the corridor where the gift shop is located, take the escalators behind the gift shop to the 3rd floor; the Bing is located to the left of escalators.
- The cocktail reception is from 5:30-7:00p
- This is an informal reception and interview attire is not required.
- Please contact Anita Hagan if you're unable to attend reception.

Parking and Transportation:
The General Surgery Training Program will provide parking vouchers for those driving to Stanford.
You must contact Anita Hagan in advance in order to reserve a voucher. Parking vouchers are handed out at the cocktail reception. Daily parking
costs $12 and we cannot reimburse you for parking so please contact us
in advance.

The Palo Alto Caltrain
Station (95 University Ave.) is conveniently located 1.5 miles from SUMC
and Stanford’s free Margueurite Shuttles are available at the station.
