Dr. Louanne Hudgins received her bachelors degree and medical degree from the University of Kansas, and completed her pediatric internship and residency and fellowship in genetics at the University of Connecticut. She is board certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics and in Clinical Genetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics (1993). Dr. Hudgins spent several years working at the University of Arizona and the University of Washington, and has been at Stanford since 1999. As Acting Chief for Division of Medical Genetics, she provides pediatric and adult genetic evaluations, and oversees the prenatal genetic counseling service.
Dr. Hudgins sits on the Board of Directors of the American College of Medical Genetics and serves as Vice President for Clinical Genetics. She is also on the editorial board for Genetics and Medicine. She has previously served as a site visitor for ABGC, co-chair for the ACMG Professional Practice and Guidelines Committee, and is is an active member of the American Society of Human Genetics and several state and regional genetics groups. She has volunteered with the March of Dimes, and is a member of the Kabuki Syndrome Network Professional Advisory Group. Dr. Hudgins has over 50 journal articles and book chapters, and has done hundreds of presentations on various aspects of genetics and genetic counseling.
