Research Protocol Approval and Continuing Scientific Review System
Resources
Protocol applications are circulated to the GCRC Advisory Committee (GAC) membership for review and comment prior to the monthly meeting.
All protocols are assigned to a primary medical reviewer and to one of the biostatisticians on the committee, Dr. Brad Efron or Dr. Richard Olshen. The GAC meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month. A lead time of at least three (3) weeks is required to ensure review within the next calendar month.
In order to facilitate the application process, the form will be available to our potential investigators in electronic formats both on disks and via this Web site. To facilitate compliance with guidelines on gender and minority populations in research, we are providing a compilation of U.S. and regional demographic data for various diseases, utilizing several resources as is evident in the gender and minority sections of the protocols. This database is being made available to all clinical investigators at Stanford, and is also available via this Web site.
Please note that the GCRC and Stanford University requires that Investigators must have a current Human Subjects (IRB) Committee approval letter on file with the GCRC in order to admit patients to the unit.
