Financial Aid

Graduates of the Stanford University School of Medicine maintain one of the lowest debt levels when compared with graduates from other, similar research-oriented medical schools. Our financial aid program offers a generous grant-to-loan ratio (60:40), which translates into more grant resources covering the cost of attendance. Tuition and financial aid policies are designed to enable students to take advantage of opportunities to earn income and explore scholarly interests simultaneously, further reducing their need to borrow.
Financial aid is based on demonstrated need, not recognition of academic promise or performance. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents; federal and institutional need-based financial aid is not available to foreign students.
