Florette Kimberly Hazard, MD

Pathology and Pediatrics

My research interests are varied, primarily focusing on the study of death and disease in children. Specifically, very recently I have been examining the incidence of surface epithelial neoplasms in ovaries in children in adolescence, under the age of 18 years of age. We have found that although these lesions are quite rare, they do affect this population with some frequency. In addition, their natural history is quite similar to that found in adults. However the overall survival of children affected by these lesions is quite good. In addition, my other interests include researching recurrent pregnancy loss in expectant mothers as well as evaluating how infections affect the placenta during pregnancy.
