Instructor: Laure Aurelian
 

Dr. Laure Aurelian is senior advisor for faculty development at Stanford University and Professor Emerita of Pharmacology and Microbiology at the University of Maryland Medical School. Her research interests are focused on virology, immunology and cellular and molecular biology, with emphasis on cancer and neuroscience. She received her first R01 award in 1970 and has since been continuously supported by NIH grants. She is the author of 300 publications in outstanding peer-reviewed journals and numerous review articles and book chapters. She is the inventor on 14 U.S. and foreign patents. She has trained over 50 students and post-doctoral fellows most of whom have achieved independent academic careers. Dr. Aurelian has served on standing study sections that review R01, PO1 and K award applications and is still functioning as a reviewer for NIH grants. At the University of Maryland, she works with investigators in developing grant proposals and programmatic initiatives, and educates faculty in grant and manuscript writing skills.
