Laura Prolo, MD, PhD

Laura grew up in the Bay Area. She attended Washington University in St. Louis for her
undergraduate training, where she studied neuroscience and competed on the varsity track and
field team. She continued her research on circadian rhythms in glia for an additional two years
following graduation, before returning to California to begin her medical and graduate training
in the Medical Scientist Training Program at Stanford. Under the mentorship of Dr. Richard
Reimer she completed her PhD in neuroscience, studying myelination in a mouse model of a
lysosomal storage disorder. Outside of the medical center Laura enjoys running, hiking in the
Sierras, oil painting and photography.
