About Dr. Jon-Paul Pepper

Dr. Jon-Paul Pepper is an award-winning, double board-certified specialist in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. His unique expertise includes:

• Facial reanimation surgery: he is the Director of the Stanford Facial Nerve Center
• Facial cosmetic surgery, including facelift, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, and brow lift.
• Facial reconstruction after skin cancer excision
• Minimally invasive aesthetic treatments, including hyaluronic acid filler injection, Botox™ treatment, and skin rejuvenation.
   

Dr. Pepper is a double-board certified surgeon who specializes in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, in particular surgery for the treatment of facial paralysis. He is the Director of the Stanford Facial Nerve Center.  His areas of expertise include facial reanimation surgery, facelift surgery, rhinoplasty, and the reconstruction of the face after skin cancer resection.  Dr. Pepper performed his undergraduate studies at Brown University, majoring in Neuroscience.  He then completed a one-year research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in preparation for a career in academic medicine.  He was awarded his M.D. at the University of California, Irvine, graduating with highest honors and Alpha Omega Alpha designation in 2007.  He went to the University of Michigan for residency training in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery in 2012.  He then completed fellowship training in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in 2013, also at the University of Michigan.   

Dr. Pepper and was honored to receive the highest board score in the nation on the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery examination in 2013. For this accomplishment, he was given the Jack R. Anderson Award for Scholastic Achievement.   

While on faculty at the University of Southern California from 2013-2017, Dr. Pepper established the USC Facial Nerve Center, and also launched a scientific research mission that explores new treatments for facial paralysis.  His research was recognized by the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery with its first-ever Research Scholar Award in 2014.  This award, with multiple other grants, has permitted the growth of a basic science research program under his direction which is dedicated to facial nerve regeneration.  In 2017, he joined the faculty at the Stanford School of Medicine and established the Stanford Facial Nerve Center.
