    This CME activity provides education on unconscious bias in the academic medicine workplace.

  • Humanistic Medicine: Engaging Difference by Design

    This year-long, seminar series is designed to use story, narrative, and interactive activities to engage MD and PA students across difference to provide meaningful opportunities to appreciate the diverse identities represented among the student body.

  • Discussions in Global Health

    The goal of Discussions in Global Health is to encourage students to think broadly about the variety of activities encompassed within global health and the roles of various entities, including NGOs, governments, and healthcare providers, in responding to large-scale health crises, building health systems, and caring for patients in developing countries.

    This course explores the processes through which social status and environmental determinants adversely affect health and drive inequalities.

  • Global Health: Scaling Health Technology Innovations in Low Resource Settings

    The course will explore interdisciplinary work in biomedical sciences, research rigor, consent, stigma and discrimination, researchers and health professionals, communication skills, and fundamentals of cinematography.

  • Gender and Intersectionality in Global Health

    This course explores how gender identity and relationships intersect with other social categorization to create systemic advantages or disadvantages that may explain and/or could address poor health outcomes within and across global communities.

    A three-quarter course series providing students with knowledge and concrete skills for working with and advocating for underserved populations.

  • Stanford Youth Diabetes Coaches Program

    An innovative course training for high school students from underserved communities to become diabetes self-management coaches for their diabetic family members and friends.

  • Diversifying Graduate Admissions

    Admissions processes are inherently biased, but can we make them better? Topics will include bias (unconscious bias, performance bias, bias in publishing and funding), the myth of meritocracy, and ambient belonging.

  • Stanford Clinical Opportunity for Residency Experience (SCORE)

    The specific goals of SCORE are to (1) increase the recruitment of diverse trainees into academic medicine, (2) provide education and career development in support of Stanford Medicine’s mission, (3) enhance the educational experience of Stanford medical students by increasing interactions with trainees from diverse backgrounds, and (4) foster opportunities for collaboration with other institutions where the visiting trainees are based.
