"Until we have committed leaders at the top, and accountability, diversifying medicine will be as slow as it has been."

ODL's Leadership Approach

The Stanford University School of Medicine's Office of Diversity & Leadership (ODL) takes a new and innovative approach to diversifying academic medicine and the ranks of future practicing physicians.

The Leadership Approach recognizes that leaders shape change.

Training. ODL programs are creating a new generation of leaders -- future deans, department chairs, division chiefs-- equipped with the skills to achieve diversity, broadly defined.

Practice. ODL  leads by example and practice what it teaches.  Women and underrepresented minority faculty members participate in our programs in numbers that reflect their representation in our increasingly diverse society.
