Witt/Kieffer has been retained by The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, ME, to search for a Chief Financial Officer. Jackson Lab is the world's largest mammalian genetic research facility. The organization serves the global scientific community as the key provider of critical genetic resources. Jackson Lab is a financially strong organization, with total revue exceeding $150 million. The CFO will play a vital role in helping to shape the strategic and financial direction of Jackson Laboratories and its ambitious growth plans. With over $61 million in annual NIH grant funding, Jackson Laboratory scientists study a wide range of human disorders, from Down syndrome to AIDS, diabetes to Alzheimer's, osteoporosis to cancer, and birth defects to heart disease. The global scientific community relies heavily on their efforts to supply genetics resources. Each year, the Laboratory supplies universities, medical schools and research laboratories all over the world with approximately 2 million JAX®Mice from more than 2,500 varieties, 97% of which are available only from The Jackson Laboratory. The Chief Financial Officer is primarily responsible for advising and supporting operational executives, scientific leadership, scientists, and the Board from a fiscal leadership perspective. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the CFO will be responsible for all financial areas of the organization. The position is oriented toward being an internal consultant and business partner to key scientific and operational constituents. We seek a seasoned, experienced finance executive with 7-10 years of senior level financial management experience. This candidate should be a persuasive communicator, be mission driven, and have a strong attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have gained the bulk of their professional experience in an academic setting, scientific institution, or a research driven company and is familiar with grant funding.
