Stanford School of Medicine![]() Stanford School of Medicine is the oldest medical school in the western United States and a world-class training ground for future leaders in biomedical research and medical practice. We offer an innovative curriculum that allows both graduate and medical students to pursue individual interests within a supportive, intellectually exciting environment. Students benefit from close working relationships with scientists and clinicians engaged in a vast array of research and clinical activities. Our faculty numbers approximately 750, roughly half of the entire Stanford University faculty. A relatively small group when compared to some of the School of Medicine's peers, they have amassed an extraordinary legacy of accomplishments, from the scope and impact of their research, to an astonishing number of scientific awards, to the innovative patient care techniques they develop and deliver. Stanford Hospital & Clinics and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital — two of the finest hospitals in the nation — provide the clinical setting in which our medical students learn to be extraordinary doctors. Many of our graduate and medical students — at a ratio significantly higher than other schools of medicine — go on to be the teachers of future physicians and scientists at Stanford and other universities. The Stanford School of Medicine website contains additional information on teaching, research, and patient care programs. |
