Research and Patient Care:
Supporting World-Class Programs

Our commitment to finding unique solutions to global health concerns is fueled by programs designed to advance translational research, strengthen our already excellent patient care programs, and invent new tools for training leaders. Through The Stanford Challenge, we seek both endowed funds and ongoing expendable support for:

Research Funds

Resources will enable us to continue Stanford's legacy of excellence and enhance collaborative projects in our core priority areas: immunity and infectious diseases, cancer, neuroscience, cardiovascular medicine, stem cell biology, orthopedic surgery and sports medicine, bioengineering, and medical education.

Start-Up Funds

Sometimes the most exciting new avenues of research are too innovative and untested to qualify for traditional funding sources. Donor support will serve as venture capital, enabling us to identify promising investigations and launch unique multidisciplinary projects.

Program and Project Funds

The practical aspects of running a world-class medical center may not make headlines but are essential to sustaining its excellence. Gifts will allow us to make strategic investments in core facilities and services ranging from specialized nurse training to critical new library acquisitions that will benefit students, staff, faculty, and patients.

Patient Care Funds

Very often what a patient remembers best are the small gestures — a comforting visit from a Hospital chaplain, a warm blanket after surgery, a thoughtful and unrushed response to a question. Gifts support our dedicated nursing staff, provide special services for patients, and fund initiatives that allow us to improve and streamline care.
