Investing In Hope
John Freidenrich, '59, JD '63
Message from the Chair, Medical Center Campaign CouncilWhen Jane and Leland Stanford decided to found a university in memory of their only son who had died of typhoid just two months before his 16th birthday, their action represented an expression of extraordinary optimism in the face of unbearable tragedy. Putting aside their own grief, they resolved to live "for other people's children," and for more than a century, Stanford University has stood as a testament to the power of hope. Stanford today continues to flourish thanks to the countless alumni and friends whose extraordinary vision and generosity honor the Stanfords' legacy. As we stand at the crest of an unparalleled opportunity to create the future of medicine, The Stanford Challenge offers each of us the privilege of becoming part of this great tradition. I have dedicated to it my own efforts and resources because I am convinced there is no other institution anywhere so uniquely qualified to make an enduring difference. The Stanford Challenge provides a host of opportunities for you to make a gift that matches your own philanthropic vision to the priorities of the campaign. I hope you will join me as we embark on this great endeavor. JOHN FREIDENRICH, '59, JD '63 |
