Music & Brain imaging study for people experiencing depression

We are seeking people who are experiencing depression to participate in a research study about how people process different types of music.  The study is at Stanford University Medical Center and pays $75.   

Are you experiencing depression?
--Feeling down or blue for several weeks
--Not interested in your usual activities
--Difficulty sleeping or concentrating
--Lack of energy
--Difficulty concentrating or making decisions

To be eligible:
-----Men and Women ages 18-65 years old
-----No current or history of neurological disorders
-----No seizure disorder or history of head trauma
-----No extended formal music training
-----Non-smokers only

The study is scheduled in two sessions.  The first is a screening visit which will take about 2 hours. At this visit, we will do an assessment of psychiatric and neurological history. 

Once we have determined that you are eligible for the study, you will come to Stanford for about 3-4 hours, during which time you’ll complete questionnaires about your mood and have an MRI (scan of your brain).
