Non-invasive brain imaging study of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

Do you qualify? Have you ever experienced, witnessed or had to deal with an extremely traumatic event? During the past month, have you re-experienced that event in a distressing way, such as dreams, intense recollections or physical reactions? Have you been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)? We are seeking people who are currently experiencing anxiety and have been exposed to a traumatic event in the past to participate in a research study about how people process faces and emotional pictures.

The study is at Stanford University Medical Center and compensates up to $50 for participation. 

General eligibility criteria: 1) Men and Women ages 18-85 years old, 2) No current or history of neurological disorders, 3) No seizure disorder or history of head trauma, 4) No current regular psychiatric medications.

The study is scheduled in one session. Volunteers are interviewed and given several questionnaires, followed by a MRI scan of the brain (lasting up to 2 hrs). If you are interested in participating in this study, please email us at stanfordpsychiatry@gmail.com or call Victoria at (650) 498-5904.
