Application Process

We participate in The Match, National Resident Matching Program exclusively through ERAS. Applications are reviewed beginning July 15^th and interviews are held on two dates in September and two dates in October.

Please note: Due to COVID-19, applications will be received and reviewed mid-August 2020 and all interviews will be conducted virtually this year.

Requirements of the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program include:

Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine or Medicine/Pediatrics Residency
Completion and passing of Step 1 and 2 of USMLE
The accepted applicant must be able to obtain a California Medical License
A valid ECFMG certificate for all foreign medical graduates
Only J-1 visas accepted

Physician scientists (typically with PhDs) are encouraged to apply to the Stanford Translational Investigation Pathway (TIP) at the time of their Internal Medicine Residency Application. TIP members who have demonstrated a solid performance in Internal Medicine Residency are not obligated, but have the opportunity to stay at Stanford University for the subspecialty fellowship program with which they interviewed on their TIP application day. TIP participants will need to apply for subspecialty fellowship through ERAS as positions are administered through The Match consistent with NRMP policies.
