On October 15, 2005, we honored Mike with the first Myer H. Rosenthal
Lecture in Critical Care Medicine, followed by a celebratory dinner.
Thomas W. Feeley, M.D., the Helen Shafer Fly Distinguished Professor
in Anesthesiology and Head of the Division of Anesthesiology and Critical
Care at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center discussed "The
Evolution of Critical Care Medicine in Healthcare: Reflections
on Thirty Years of Supporting Life". Tom was the sixth faculty member
in critical care at Stanford and was our Associate Medical Director for
18 years before assuming his leadership roles in Texas in 1996. Shortly
after moving there, Tom established an annual Rosenthal Lectureship which
highlights a leader in critical care.
