First Responder COVID-19 Guide
Stanford Medicine knows you care about how your information is used and shared. We take protecting your privacy very seriously. Please read the following to learn more about how we use and protect information collected through the First Responder and Essential Worker COVID-19 Guide Application (“Application”) and related services (“Services”).
By using the Services in any manner, you acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies outlined in this Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”).
You consent that we will collect, use, and share your information as described in this Privacy Policy.
What does this Privacy Policy cover?
This Privacy Policy applies to the information that you enter into the Application. This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of companies or institutions that we do not own or control, or to individuals that we do not employ or manage.
Your use of the Services will allow you to provide us with your Personal Information, including but not limited to, information about yourself and your symptoms. This information is stored on your personal device and is not shared or transmitted to Stanford Medicine. The Application’s ability to share information and with whom it is shared is determined by your personal election. You may, for example, elect to share the results of the Application with a health care provider.
We do not knowingly collect or solicit Personal Information from anyone under the age of 18 or knowingly allow such persons to register for the Services. If you are under 18, you must not attempt to register for the Services and you must not enter any information about yourself in the Application. If you believe that we might have any information from or about a person under the age of 18, please contact us at privacy@stanford.edu.
What information does the Application collect?
The Application collects only the information you, the user, enter. This includes your name, occupation category, county of employer, current symptoms related to the COVID-19 screening, age range, and some items in your medical history. This information is stored on your personal device and is not sent to Stanford Medicine. The historical assessment results are stored on your phone for later review.
In certain circumstances, you have the option to send (or not send) data to Apple through crash reports. This data may include screenshots of the issue and the information you’ve entered into that screen. Crash reports may also include your Apple ID. This data is stored in the Apple App Store Connect Portal and can be viewed by Apple and Stanford Medicine developers to improve the application. This data is governed by the Apple privacy policy, which may be found on your device under Settings > Privacy > Analytics & Improvements. What choices do I have?
You may choose not to use the Application. Your use of the Application is voluntary and you may discontinue use at any time. You may also choose to delete the data entered into the Application by deleting the Application from your mobile device. Effective Date and Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy is effective as of April 2, 2020. We may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time. New versions of this Privacy Policy are effective when they are made available through the Application. It is your obligation to check the Privacy Policy for changes. Use of information we collect now is subject to the version of the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is used.
