Patients

The Stanford Pain Management Center is an interdisciplinary clinic that provides medical, psychological, and physical therapies to help patients manage chronic pain conditions. We believe in the biopsychosocial model to address pain. This approach views a physical condition as a result of a dynamic and intricate interaction among biological, psychological, and social factors.

As you can see, individuals have different factors that can contribute to their experience of pain. At Stanford Pain Management Center, we offer a multimodal and individualized approach to help you develop the best treatment plan for your symptoms and your goals. Our treatments are based on a biopsychosocial approach and follow the “3 legs of a stool” model.

When we utilize only one leg of the stool, we are not very grounded or stable. The same is true of a multimodal approach to your pain. The strongest approach is the one with the most stability – so the more legs your stool has, the more supported you are!
