Thomas L. Cherpes, MD, DVM, Assistant Professor, received a DVM from the University of Wisconsin and a MD from Wake Forest University. Conducts basic, translational, and clinical research studies that explore host defense against cancer and microbial pathogens, with focus on:
1. Understanding effects of sex steroids on biological mechanisms of anti-pathogen host defense
2. Developing cellular immunotherapies
3. Developing trachoma vaccines
