Thomas L. Cherpes, DVM, MD, Assistant Professor, received a DVM from the University of Wisconsin and a MD from Wake Forest University. Conducts basic, translational, and clinical research studies that explore host defense against cancer and microbial pathogens, with focus on:

1. Effects of exogenous sex steroids on basic mechanisms of anti-virus host defense 

2. Importance of Type 2 immunity as host defense against Chlamydia trachomatis

3. Development of cellular immunotherapies for infectious disease and cancer
