Alexis Kofoed

I am from the San Francisco Bay Area and am fluent in Spanish with special interests in health education, wellness and preventative medicine. Upon completion of my Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, I furthered my education at Touro University, California where I earned my Master’s Degree in Public Health. At Touro University, I was able to take on meaningful leadership roles which included directing a case management program for patients with chronic diseases, serving as a health educator for underserved communities and providing guidance as a case manager for pregnant and parenting teens. After earning my master's degree, I became a certified Emergency Medical Technician which exposed me to the practice of medicine and allowed me to perform direct-patient care. In pursuit of valuable opportunities to make a positive impact in the lives of patients and families, I also became a medical scribe for CEP America and the Stanford Emergency Department, Trauma Center.

Over the past four years, my experience in public health and direct-patient care has increased my desire to grow toward a career in family medicine and has motivated me to commit to the unique educational experience provided by the COMET Fellowship. I plan to continue my professional growth by pursuing a degree as a physician assistant followed by a PhD in Behavioral Medicine. My professional goal is to mentor other aspiring medical students as a healthcare educator and also to lead advancements in the medical profession.

Cat Carragee

I am a Bay Area native with diverse interests. As an undergraduate I studied Art History and Biochemistry at Willamette University in Oregon. I studied Baroque Art in Rome for six months and curated a show of Italian artist during my time there. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 2014, I moved back to the Bay Area to finish my biochemistry thesis at Stanford and immerse myself in medicine. My interests have always been broad and people oriented so I began scribing for the Emergency Department at O'Connor Hospital in the fall of 2014. I quickly became interested in primary care and preventative medicine and jumped at the chance to be a part of the first COMET fellowship!  Outside of the fellowship I can be found all around the bay - playing soccer, hiking with my camera or spending time with my family.
