The LBNL is a fully equipped, state of the art research facility and it has many resources that is not practicial to list here, however, select few of these that are relevant to he proposed activities are given below.

The National Center for Electron Microscopy (NCEM) is a U.S. Department of Energy user facility providing scientific researchers with essential resources for electron beam microcharacterization of materials.  It houses several of the world’s most advanced microscopes and tools for microcharacterization.

The Advanced Light Source (ALS) is a national user facility that generates intense light for scientific and technological research.  It is currently the world’s brightest source of ultraviolet and soft x-ray beam. Existing select equipment relavan to this proposal are: X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), extended x-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS), x-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES), x-ray diffraction, small-angle x-ray scattering  and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) at the Advanced Light Source (ALS).
