Graduate school taught me a number of things, not the least of which was that while I love science- learning about it, discussing it, disseminating scientific ideas, I am somewhat less enamored of actually doing science. As graduation drew near, I began to search for job opportunities that would allow me to stay as close to science as possible, without actually doing it myself. I was pleasantly surprised to find a number of varied opportunities, discovered mainly through extensive networking that started with a single chance encounter, which would enable me to do just that. My position as a Project Leader within an academic institute allows me to use my scientific background and remain in an academic environment focused on medical research, while utilizing my skills at communication, organization, and project management.
