Practicing medicine and conducting research during my residency and fellowship training showed me the importance of management and policy decisions on day to day clinical care. While I enjoyed some aspects of heath services research, I realized that my own interests lie with the operational implications and implementation issues that arise in translating research into practice. After speaking to mentors and colleagues in academics, private practice, and industry, I looked at management consulting as a possible next step.

Management consulting offers an opportunity to work in a broad number of companies within the health care industry while working on the most important strategic and operational issues that those organizations face. McKinsey, in particular, has extensive experience in professional development for individuals from non-business backgrounds. I hope to gain the analytical tools and deep industry experience necessary to take leadership roles at the intersection of business and medicine.
