Time:   5:00-7:00 PM

Location:   Medical School Office Building (MSOB), Room 303

Sponsor:   Bay Area Schweitzer Fellows Program

Event details:

If you are interested in community service, please consider applying for an exciting and prestigious fellowship called the Bay Area Schweitzer Fellowship that is currently recruiting for the 2011-2012 class.

Selected graduate level students will have the opportunity to work with other students from other Bay Area schools and programs to identify unmet health needs they are passionate about in this community, and design a 200 hour community service project around it in the spirit of Nobel Peace Prize recipient Dr. Albert Schweitzer. Service projects are carried out with community agencies selected by the Fellow.  In addition, each Fellow will be linked to a national network of alumni called Fellows for Life.

The Fellowship takes a broad definition of health and wellness and therefore recruits students from various programs such as medicine, nursing, physician assistant, public health, acupuncture, education, engineering, law, business, music, occupational and physical therapy, pharmacy, social work, public policy, and others.

Applications are due February 1, 2011. You can apply and find more information on the website.  For more information, please contact the Program Director, Dale Ogar, at

Free and open to Stanford ID holders as space permits.
