The presenter will share his impressions of health care delivery in Kenya.  Dr. Weisburst served as an operations management consultant for the US Trade and Development Agency at Nairobi’s Kenyatta National Hospital.  His primary focus was to prioritize medical needs in a setting of limited health care resources.  Dr. Weisburst subsequently obtained a Kenyan medical license and worked as a clinical consultant in internal medicine and cardiology at Nairobi Hospital.  He will describe his perspective on some of the challenges facing the medical community in this developing country.

About our Speaker:

Dr. Weisburst is a graduate of Stanford Medical School.  He practiced cardiology and internal medicine at Hartford Hospital for 22 years (Hartford Hospital is affiliated with the University of Connecticut Medical School).  In 2003, he earned an MBA degree at the University of Hartford with an emphasis on health care delivery.  In 2006, he participated in a program to improve health care delivery at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH is the largest public referral hospital in East Africa).  After completion of this advisory assignment, Dr. Weisburst was invited to serve as a consultant cardiologist and internist at Nairobi Hospital (both Nairobi Hospital and KNH are affiliated with the University of Nairobi School of Medicine).
